what we do

MRDF works in partnership with small-scale, locally-based organisations in the poorest countries of Africa, Asia and Latin America. MRDF currently supports 60 partner organisations in more than 20 countries.

Grants are given to small organisations, often unable to access other funding, to help them grow, flourish and become more self sufficient.

More about which countries we work in

MRDF partners work with the poorest of the poor.  They seek to empower community members to take control of their own development, for example through skills training or raising awareness of their rights. All projects are monitored and evaluated by MRDF to make sure the money is well spent.

MRDF also responds to emergencies and raises awareness in the UK about the causes of poverty through campaigning and producing education and worship materials.

Poverty can be both a cause and effect of poor health; lack of education; HIV/AIDS; lack of access to clean water; environmental damage and many other problems that people in developing countries face in their daily lives. Therefore MRDF partners work across these different areas to help communities as a whole determine their own development priorities.
