We only work in the least developed countries in the world and we focus our efforts on the poorest people.

 

Here are some examples of what a one-off gift could do

£13 trains a farmer in skills to improve his/her business in northwest Cameroon, where poverty levels are high

£26 buys a seed bank for a community in India, where failed harvests can devastate lives

£60 trains 50 individuals in chicken farming in Cambodia, where many people faced years of conflict and upheaval

£185 trains a group of ten young people in piggery management in Malawi, where youth unemployment is high

£10 a month trains six people in water source construction in Uganda

Many families in rural Uganda use dirty water for drinking and washing, and some children have to walk for miles to fill heavy containers, often missing hours of school.

An MRDF partner is training local people in masonry so they are equipped to lead their communities in construction, digging and maintenance of new water sources.

A new well helps to save lives, and money on medical treatment. And children finally get a proper chance to learn at school.

£20 a month pays for a teacher to work with street children in Bangladesh

Nearly half a million children live on the streets of Bangladesh. At risk of malnutrition, illness and exploitation, many of them have no-one to trust and few prospects of moving off the streets.

An MRDF project sets up ‘classrooms under the sky' every day where street children can learn literacy and numeracy skills and how to stay healthy. They can also get any medical attention they need

As well as teaching, staff members spend time encouraging children to attend the classes and looking out for children who need assistance.
