Martyn Atkins flies to Uganda today to visit two MRDF partners, Voluntary Action for Development (VAD) and the Katosi Women Development Trust. You can follow the President's trip, via his blog, as he takes this first opportunity to see for himself how MRDF is making small miracles possible for the world's poorest people. |

The women of Katosi formed a development association when a fishing ban on Lake Victoria threatened their livelihoods. With MRDF support, they began keeping dairy cows, growing vegetables and using small-scale organic farming techniques to improve soil quality. Their new skills and confidence have enabled them to feed their families and put them in a stronger position to respond to the challenges of the future. VAD's work gives rural communities access to clean water and sanitation. This includes providing hand-washing facilities and latrines, delivering hygiene education and installing and maintaining clean water sources. More than 17,000 people have benefitted from access to clean, safe water through this work, supported by MRDF. The President will meet staff from these partners and families for whom these small changes have made a big difference. Click here to read more about the President's visits on his blog. |
