Extraordinary gifts!

These inspiring gifts are a great way to celebrate special occasions while making an extraordinary difference to some of the world's poorest people.

For each item there is a colourful card and magnet set to give to your loved one.

The card explains about the small miracle that has been made possible in their name, while the magnet helps them remember their extraordinary gift all year round.

Gift of a goat

Our locally sourced goats are tough enough to thrive in the chilly mountainous areas of Ethiopia as well as providing nutritious milk; even their droppings make a great fertiliser for crops! They will provide a woman with an alternative source of income that will benefit her and her family for years to come. And at just £9 they are certainly a baaa-rgain!

One small step...

We don't think of shoes as essential educational items, but in Nepal they can make the difference between being able to go to school and being forced to remain at home. Help a child side-step poverty and access their education by providing them with footwear, a school uniform, bag and books. It's a giant leap towards helping them realise their dreams.

Clever Chickens

These chickens are an eggs-ellent way to boost someone's income. Families living by Lake Atitlan in Guatemala have a very small amount of land to farm on, so these compact animals are a cracking idea. Their eggs can be sold, they can be fattened for meat and their droppings are used as a fantastic free alternative to chemical fertilisers. And at just £20 for 30 birds they're certainly going cheep!

Seeds of Change

Stop a failed harvest from becoming a financial crisis by buying a seed bank for a community in India. The bank enables a group of farmers to save up to 10 varieties of drought and pest resistant crops. Individuals take out the seeds on loan in an emergency and then pay the bank back in-kind after their harvest. An ex-seedingly simple idea that offers more security to poor farmers, enabling them to literally grow their investments!

Bee the answer

Help an agricultural community in Kenya not to get stung by decreasing crop yields by providing them with a beehive. Although they're a pest at picnics bees can be a nice little earner. Your hive will go to a women's group, enabling them to start their very own honey-production business. Sweet!

Fight poverty with a forest

Trees are on the frontline of poverty reduction in Togo. Without them the fertile topsoil erodes, leaving a barren rocky landscape that's difficult to farm. £50 provides a local group with the pots and seedlings that they need to plant 50 indigenous Leucaena trees. The trees will help to decrease soil erosion, increasing the productivity of the land for years to come. A great gift for any eco-warrior.

Window on the world

£95 will pay for a month's salary for an adult education tutor in Tanzania, who works specifically with Maasai people who have never had the opportunity to go to school. But this gift is about much more than helping people to get to grips with the alphabet. The Maasai traditional nomadic lifestyle is gradually being eroded by land restrictions. These classes will provide 30 adults with the skills they need to adapt to their changing world, enabling them to run their own profitable small businesses.
