Supporters complete 10K run for MRDF

Simeon and David raised over £800 for MRDF after running the British 10K in July

Two MRDF supporters – including one of our staff members – joined thousands of runners in the British 10K London Run in July, raising hundreds of pounds for our life-changing project work.

Simeon Mitchell, MRDF Fundraising, Marketing and Campaigning Director, and David Paterson, from Walton on Thames, were part of the 27,000-strong contingent that took part in the run on Sunday 12 July. They raised over £800 for people living in the world's poorest communities.

Simeon and David both covered the distance in an hour or less, running past historic landmarks such as Big Ben, St Paul's Cathedral and Tower Bridge.

Simeon, said: ‘I'm not really into sports - until I started training for this race the only running I'd done for 20 years was to catch trains. But it felt great to complete the run, especially knowing that every kilometre I ran would raise over £55 for MRDF. I crossed the line breathless and red-faced, but it was worth it for the many small miracles that will be possible as a result.'

David, who attends Walton on Thames Methodist Church, decided to run for MRDF after speaking with one of the charity's volunteers, Jeannette Curtis. David said: ‘I am a runner as well as a supporter of the charity – I just put the two together for this race! Our church has been supporting MRDF for a long time.'

The money that Simeon and David raised will help some of the world's poorest individuals transform their lives and become self-sufficient. All donations will be allocated by MRDF to where the need is greatest.
