Three MRDF supporters joined
over 35,000 people running the
2008 London Marathon in April.

After months of training, Jim Parrish, Adrian Burton and Nick Claydon took
to the streets, knowing that every step would make small miracles possible for hundreds of individuals living thousands of miles away.

So far, they have raised over £2,000, which will support MRDF projects that help unemployed young people build their business skills and vulnerable families improve their crop supplies.

Nick, from Chestfield, was running to raise money for MRDF partners in Cameroon. Nick said: 'When you think that £55 will provide HIV/AIDS awareness for 800 people it is easy to see how our small contributions make real change happen. Because of the kind of sponsorship I received, my six-hour run may have felt like a lifetime but everypenny raised will now make a lifetime's difference to someone.'

Adrian Burton, who was running his first ever London Marathon, chose MRDF for the same reason. Adrian said: 'It really makes you want to help when you hear the difference that a small amount can make.'

Veteran runner Jim Parrish just couldn't resist running for MRDF again this year, after helping to raise £2,500 for us last year! 71-year-old Jim, who was running his 11th Marathon, will contribute to projects that help people living with HIV/AIDS in Malawi. Jim said: 'Marathon running is always something I've found a challenge and I'm still up for it even though I'm 71. I worked in Malawi for six years, so it is a special place for me.'

If you feel inspired by these runners, we have places in the 2008 British 10k London Run on 6 July. To be part of MRDF's 10k team, please call or John Cooper on 020 7467 5132, or download an application pack. Places are on a first come first served basis, so hurry.
